The World of Quest: a comic book review

Here is another adventure into the wonders of Mark Twain.

A Response to ‘Women Against Feminism.’

Imagine this:

The year is 2014. You are a white Western woman. You wake up in the morning in a comfortably sized house or flat. You have a full or part-time job that enables you to pay your rent or mortgage. You have been to school and maybe even college or university as well. You can read and write and count. You own a car or have a driver’s licence. You have enough money in your own bank account to feed and clothe yourself. You have access to the Internet. You can vote. You have a boyfriend or girlfriend of your choosing, who you can also marry if you want to, and raise a family with. You walk down the street wearing whatever you feel like wearing. You can go to bars and clubs and sleep with whomever you want.

Your world is full of freedom and possibility.

Then you…

Thanks for the Feedback?

Dear Readers,

I apologize for this blog being late. I have been dealing with other problems this past week Anyways, I have been an YouTube user and viewer going on four years now. And I couldn’t help noticing a few problems with it.

Youtube-logo    For starters,I have grown tired of the in-fighting on the YouTube video comments pages. You see after watching an episode of Foamy the Squirrel about forums and how they have become so dumb down to where you can not even voice your own opinion, I have realized he is right. Just the other day, I decided to watched a video by Taylor Swift and all I saw were comments made by others to silence someone’s opinion. True, these people shouldn’t be watching the video if they hate it so much. Yet at the same time, they should be able to voice their opinion without the someone biting their head off. I feel people forget at times that the internet was also made to express your opinion and not a popularity contest for the next top celebrity.

The next thing that bothers me is those schleps that try to correct you on your opinion and think they did you a real favor. This happened to me when I watched that new music video, “Co-dependent” on YouTube, I made a comment about how the song reminded me of “Independent” by Destiny’s child. Then, someone with their so-called, infinite wisdom had to correct me. I,mean, I can admit to being wrong. But, I do not think or feel I need the help of some know-it-all jerk who lives only to correct others on their knowledge of pop culture. And plus isn’t YouTube already trash? Who cares if you get something wrong? And if you are going to do any kind of correcting, then you are better off picking on the people who make comments with all the words misspelled.

Now for the final annoyances created by YouTube, the comments where someone decided to remark on how many people disliked the video. At times this kind of remark can be funny. But, sometimes it’s almost as lame as when someone says “your mom” when someone else has said something they did not like.

Well, I have to go now. I have to go and take care of some comment someone made about my comment on some else about Taylor Swift’s new music video.

Peace Out,

Radio Static

Dear Readers,

Do you remember along ago when I discussed to you the stay out of my face Shareenaminor subtleties between Taylor Swift and Skye Sweetnam. Well, I planned to do the same thing with Jesse McCartney and Justin Bieber. But, I felt another wrong must be righted before I could even begin talking about these two pop-singers. Now, just for fun. I’m going to let you to guess what it is. Did you say radio broadcasting? Then you are correct, dear sir or madam. Ever since I learned of that this device ever existed, I have enjoyed listening to music of singers/songwriters like Barenaked Ladies,Goo Goo Dolls, Green Day, and many others. I,mean, did I ever love dancing and singing along to music back then. Boy, one thing that everyone has to agree on about the nineties has to be the music. However, I have started to, like many others, notice the “More rock, less talk” motto being ignored by my favorite radio stations. It feels like I’m being constantly bombarded by either commercials or some idiotic joke made by a local early-morning DJ. I understand that the main point of these audio- peddle pushers is to make money and the radio-stations are dealing with the struggle between internet radio and keeping the attention of their fellow listeners. But, I personally feel the ads should be stripped off the airwaves and these Deejays should be fired without severance pay for their lame jokes and constant ramblings of stupidity. I could say the same about the vee-jays( music video jockeys usually found on VH1 and MTV doing the top twenty countdown), but that is an evil saved for another day. Another complaint that I have is the amount of music being played on the radio, I believe it has gone from being a whole hour of musical goodness to two songs per hour. And that is if you’re lucky. But most of the time, it’s like one song and it is by “America’s little sweetheart”, Taylor Swift. Please Folks, don’t get me wrong. I do think Taylor Swift is a great singer. But, it would be nice not to hear a song that was not a break-up or love song written by little miss American dream occasionally. At least there is one bright side to this radio static, around 7:00 pm central time our musical savior, John Tesh, is comes on. And music reigns supreme once again and commercials must take the back seat for the next five hours.

I also like how the John Tesh, the DJ, gives out important information rather than some idiotic joke an keeps the talk real brief so that way you can actually enjoy the music. I know there are some music stations that actually play music in the same manner. But, I can only stand to listen to just two songs and that is it. Anyways, I think I’m going to go and listen some Third Eye Blind for a while.

So, Cyndro saying peace-out and catch you later!

Taylor Swift vs. Skye Sweetnam

Dear Readers,

First of All, I want to tell you all Happy New Year’s and hopes for a reflective MLK Jr B-day. Birthday. Now with greetings aside, I wanted to talk about the musical annoyance that is “swiffering” the world by storm. Yep, you guessed it. It’s Taylor Swift. I really don’t know why I dislike her so much. Maybe it’s her songs. Then again, her music is not really that inane. I am an alterna-rock music listener and even I got say that she is not that bad of singer and some of her songs have a fair enough amount of true in them like Fifteen. But, it is annoying to hear the way she compares herself and her forbidden boyfriend to the Shakespearean tragedy play,Romeo and Juliet and Hester Prynne‘s Scarlet Letter in her lyrics to Love story. Don’t believe me, then watch the video. If you think it’s just lyrics. Then, no,it’s all the freshmen and sophomore kids in my school that go around singing it like it is the way of life that is most annoying. I,mean, I am huge fan about most of my bands like Onerepublic and Skye Sweetnam, of whom will be covered in this blog. But, the thought to make someone to fall in love with them is far from it. But, I hate that kind of mind-set of most teens that their love is like Romeo and Juliet. I’m think it is romantic and a true statement. But, after reading about it myself, I think I would rather opt out for Much ado about Nothing or Midsummer Night Dream. And same goes for the Scarlet Letter, I know I didn’t pay much attention to it in class. But, I do know it didn’t end well. I also find myself questioning her past hit song, “Mine”, which was about a relationship with a boy who made her into a rebel out of her. Oh yeah, two kids of college age getting married and living together is really rebellious. Personally when I think of rebellious, I think of Skye Sweetnam and her song, “Billy S”. Well, of those who have never even heard of Skye Sweetnam or her music. Skye Sweetnam has written and performed songs for shows like Disney Channel’s original series, the Buzz on Maggie, and Nickelodeon’s The Wayside. She grew up in Canada and starting writing music at sixteen. Pretty much the same time as Taylor Swift. But, I feel Skye is more expressive in her music than Taylor Swift is at times. Anyways, in Skye Sweetnam’s song ,“Billy S”,which stands for William Shakespeare, starts off with her not wanting to go to school on Monday and being unable to ride a bus there. So, Skye says to father, of whom she refers to as “daddy” like she is five or something, that she doesn’t want to go to school. But, I do like the part where she says the line “to skip or not to skip” was really good. I love the idea of her taking Hamlet’s “to be or not to be” soliloquy and making fun of it in this way. I,mean, if you like Taylor’s version better go ahead and do that. But, I think Skye has a better frame of mind when it comes to rebellion concepts.

Now, they are some songs where Taylor and Skye kind of go together. Those songs would be “You belong with me” by Taylor and “Tangled up in me” by Skye. They both happen to be kind of going

after a boy who they both like and waiting for him to notice. The difference is in Taylor’s “You belong with me”. It sounds like it’s a nicer version of Avril Lavinge‘s “Girlfriend”. She basically trying to break up this couple that is not working out very well. While in Skye’s “Tangled up in me”, She is trying to get this guy to notice her. But, overall they are both clichéd in attitude for the whole “looking something that was already there concept”. But, at least Skye didn’t try to steal this boy from another girl like Taylor did.

In short, it doesn’t really matter who is the better songwriter. I think both Skye and Taylor are equal and unique in style. So, if you like Taylor that’s just fine. And if you like Skye, then like Skye. As for me, I think I’m going to enjoy some P!nk or Skye Sweetnam and get over this review. Catch you in the next two weeks for my new blog.
